What you may not know is that Sodwana Bay is a perfect destination for the outdoor enthusiast, avid birder, and nature lover.  There are so many THINGS TO DO in and around Sodwana Bay including Game Viewing, Nature Walks, Birding, Snorkeling, Fishing, and Nature Photography, to name but a few.  Nearby Nature Reserves include amongst others Kosi Bay, Mkhuze, Tembe, Ndumo, Cape Vidal and False Bay Park Game Reserves. 

Most of these parks form part of the greater iSimangaliso Wetland Park (apart from Ndumo and Tembe), South Africa’s first World Heritage Site, recognized for its superlative natural beauty and biodiversity.  The oldest of these conservation areas is the St Lucia Game Park, proclaimed in 1895 which consists of Lake St Lucia, the islands and a half mile wide boundary added in 1939, known as St Lucia Park.
