The reef complex of Sodwana Bay consist of 2 Mile reef with over 30 dive spots, as well as 5 Mile, 6 Mile, 7 Mile, 8 Mile and 9 Mile reef.
A host of different underwater scenery can be expected with gullies, swim throughs and pinnacles. Visibility and water temperatures are suitable for diving all year round.
The reefs of Sodwana Bay are situated within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site and are one of the most prestine reef complexes in the world. Sodwana's Coral Reefs host more than 1300 species of fish as well as a high diversity of hard and soft corals, nudibranchs, echinoderms and other marine animals such as turtles, sharks, dolphin and whales.
Between October and February each year migrating Whale Shark frequent the area and between November and January Ragged-tooth Shark come to rest at Quater Mile reef.
